UI/UX Design
Canal Curta! is an independent Brazilian channel dedicated to arts, culture, and humanities. As part of its digital expansion, the group launched a Video On Demand platform designed not only for Canal Curta!, but as a white-label streaming infrastructure for multiple brands within the ecosystem, including Porta Curtas, Curta na Escola, Curta Enem, CurtaOn, and Tamanduá TV.
I was responsible for designing the user experience and establishing a scalable design system under significant technical constraints. The platform was built on a legacy Bootstrap framework layered on top of a pre-purchased theme, requiring careful system thinking to ensure visual consistency, flexibility, and performance without a full front-end rebuild.
Unlike traditional streaming platforms, the system supports multiple monetization models: users can rent or purchase individual films, full series, episodes, or collections; subscribe to different plan tiers; or access content through ISP partner subscriptions. Each brand within the group also includes specific features — such as live streaming, educational applications, teacher accounts with permission controls, and differentiated checkout flows.
A key complexity was the depth of the content database. Beyond standard metadata, the platform includes full technical credits, awards, festival participation, production companies, thematic collections, pedagogical applications, teacher commentary, tags, and user reviews — all searchable through an advanced multi-field search system.
The result was a modular, adaptable streaming platform capable of supporting distinct products and business models within a unified architecture, balancing legacy technical limitations with long-term scalability.
